Abstract:

Background: Quality of research in any field is the backbone of progress. Type of studies reflect the vision and facilities the researchers have. 

Objective: To detect frequency of various types of study designs conducted in the fild of haematology over the last five years in Medline-indexed journal of Pakistan.

Design: Retrospective observational study.

Place and duration of study: Fauji Foundation Hospital Rawalpindi, from 2005 to 2009.

Materials and Methods: All types of articles published the field of haematology over the last five years in Medline-indexed journal of Pakistan were included. Data was collected from www.pakmedinet.com. Each article was scrutinized for type of study, e.g. Case Report, Experimental study, Observational study, and Review Article. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics.

Results: Out of articles,  (%) were ,  (%) were ,  (%) were ,  (%) were , and  (%) was .

Conclusion:  Observational type of study and case reports were the most common type of study designs conducted for reseach in Pakistan over the last five years in Haematology in Medline-indexed journals. Experimental studies and review articles were negligible.
