With low erythropoietin:

   Anaemia of renal insufficiency

   Anaemia of chronic disorder

   Anaemia of liver disease

   Anaemia of endocrine deficiency

   Protein-calorie malnutrition

With normal erythropoietin:

   -With normal marrow function:

        Post-haemorrhagic anaemia

        Haemolytic anaemia

   -With impaired marrow function:  

       Affecting only Erythroid lineage:

           Red cell aplasia

           Acquired pure red cell aplasia in adults

           Transient erythroblastopenia of childhood

           Congenital dyserythropoietic anaemia type II

           Early iron deficiency

      Affecting all lineages:

           Aplastic anaemia

           Myelophthisic anaemia

           Myelodysplastic syndrome

           Marrow hypoplasia
